Hollyland Lark M2: Scope of delivery and our first impression
The scope of delivery of the Hollyland Lark M2* is pretty well thought out. Included are two super-compact transmitters that are perfect for interviews or other applications where you need multiple sound sources. Receivers are also included and can be easily connected to different devices, there is one with USB-C for Android smartphones, tablets and laptops, one with Lightning connector for Apple devices and one for cameras or audio recorders. There is also a practical charging case that not only serves as storage, but also offers the option of charging everything on the go. A USB cable, audio connection cable for cameras, two neck straps for attaching the transmitters, windscreens for the microphones and a practical bag for storing all the parts round off the set.
There are different versions of the Hollyland Lark M2, our combo version has the most connection options, there are also cheaper models for smartphones only. A good overview can be found at Hollyland.
Our first impression? Positive all round! Weighing just 9 grams, the transmitters are very pleasantly light and can be easily attached to clothing using the magnets or clips supplied. The workmanship feels solid and pairing between the devices is quick and reliable.
What are the technical specifications of the Lark M2 Wireless Microphone?
The Hollyland Lark M2 has some cool features, but there are also a few things to keep in mind. It uses 2.4 GHz radio technology and claims a range of up to 300 m with line of sight – however, the connection is not stable at greater distances. In a clear, short line of sight, it usually works without any problems, but the signal can weaken if there are obstacles such as interference from the human body, as well as at greater distances. A point to keep in mind depending on the area of application.
Another highlight is the low latency, which makes the microphone particularly attractive for applications such as interviews or vlogging, where timing and synchronicity are important. With a battery life of up to 10 hours per microphone, the Lark M2 is also well equipped for longer recording sessions. Thanks to the charging case, you can easily charge the microphones on the go, giving you a battery life of 40 hours. Perfect for mobile productions!
Sound quality & easy handling
In terms of sound, the Lark M2 cuts a pretty good figure, especially for its size. The voice is transmitted clearly and naturally, without exaggerated highs or muddy lows. Thanks to the noise suppression, disturbing background noise is reliably minimized, which is particularly advantageous in louder environments. The level can be adjusted directly on the receiver using a dial so that the recording is not overmodulated or too quiet.
Operation is very intuitive: as a rule, the transmitter and receiver connect automatically as soon as they are removed from the case. A button on the microphone can be used to activate or deactivate noise suppression, depending on whether you want the most natural sound possible or a particularly clear voice recording. However, we would have liked more setting options to be able to adjust the noise suppression individually.
Conclusion: Is the compact Hollyland Lark M2 worth it?
The Lark M2 convinced us overall! It offers a solid overall package for content creators, vloggers and anyone looking for an uncomplicated wireless mic set at a fair price. Its ease of use, broad compatibility and compact design make it the perfect companion for on the go. In terms of sound, it delivers clean voice recordings, but the wireless connection can be a little weak in some situations. So if you often record at greater distances, the DJI Mic Mini could be the better choice – but it also costs more.
The bottom line is that you get a cleverly designed wireless microphone with practical features, decent battery life and a strong price-performance ratio. If you’re looking for a flexible, easy-to-use mic for your smartphone, camera or laptop, the Lark M2 is definitely worth a look!
