Røde Wireless GO 3 review - The classic from Rode relaunched - wireless at 260m
We tested the latest version of the Rode Wireless GO, the Gen 3. Why do we like the product but would still recommend another one? It’s not the product you would expect at this price.
TL;DR: Our Rating
★★★★★
The transmitters sound absolutely clean, internal 32 bit recordings ensure good quality
★★★★☆
There is nothing wrong with the connectivity, but a charging case is missing for the price
★★★★☆
The workmanship of the devices is good, the accessories are inadequate for this price segment

Røde Wireless GO Gen 3: First impression and scope of delivery
In fact, the scope of delivery is the crucial point: you get the two transmitters, a receiver, two windscreens, USB-C to Lightning cable, a bag and a 3 to 1 USB-C adapter. For around $299 (as of December 2024), this is unfortunately really not good. It simply lacks a charging case.
But let’s move on to the microphones and first impressions. The third generation of the Wireless GO series looks a bit like a Wireless PRO. The screw caps for lavalier microphones and the somewhat simpler look give it a high-quality appearance. The transmitter also looks high quality, you can connect everything directly and get started.
Technical features
Let’s start with the positives. If you take a closer look at the second generation, you can see clear progress: 32-bit float, GainAssist technology, 40 hours of internal recording, 260 m range, an adapter for data handling. With the headphone output, you can now even plug in a headset and record on a separate track. An all-round successful product, isn’t it? There is even Plug-in Power Detect, which means that the receiver switches on and off at the same time as the camera. According to Rode, this system is universally compatible with cameras. It worked flawlessly with our Sony camera.
Why, Røde? You actually know what we want, don't you?
What really amazes us is the model design and the timing of the released models. We also tested the Røde Wireless Micro and came to a positive conclusion. In addition to the sound, the overall package should also be evaluated. Is there a charging case? How big is the microphone? What options are there for attaching the microphone? What is the scope of delivery like?
The Rode Wireless GO 3 scores poorly on all of these questions. Because: There is no charging case, there is no magnetic way to attach the transmitter, the scope of delivery is simply not complete. Even if you only wanted to use the Wireless GO as a transmitter and receiver, there are no lavalier microphones.
Wireless GO, MICRO, PRO, ME or ME Duo?
There are already several wireless microphones from the Røde brand. But we simply can’t recommend the latest model. It looks in the same price range as the Wireless Pro (currently around $40 difference), but offers fewer features. For around $40 more, you get: magnetic clips (cost around $20 extra), 2 lavalier microphones (cost $99 extra each) and a charging case with data handling (expected to cost $90 extra). Incidentally, this will only be released in the course of January. The Wireless Pro also has the timecode function.
If you add these costs together, you end up with an impressive $627. The Wireless Pro (for approx. 349$) is simply the complete package for much less money. The Rode Wireless Go Gen 3 is therefore only worthwhile as an upgrade if you already have accessories that are compatible with the successor to the successful Wireless GO II. However, one thing has to be said for the GO Gen 3: The audio quality is really good!
Conclusion Rode Wireless Go 3: We recommend the Pro model
As already mentioned above: If you are really looking for the GO 3 with these accessories, you should buy it, because it is not a bad product. However, we have also done the math: The Go is actually more expensive than the Pro model. Apart from the price point, the Go 3 is a really good wireless microphone, and it’s available in many different colors. Take a look at our Rode Wireless Pro Review.
